Traditional methods fell short
Municipality Sint-Genesius-Rode had previously relied on traditional methods including their own website, VDAB, physical announcement boards, and word-of-mouth to fill vacancies. At that time, social media hadn’t yet become a part of their recruitment strategy. Moreover, they were initially hesitant about being on social media to attract the right candidates. However, these traditional methods weren’t as effective as they wished to reach the right candidates, particularly for hard-to-fill roles. With limited success in reaching the right candidates, they knew they needed to explore modern recruitment strategies.
Overcoming doubts with the sympl software
That’s when the sympl software entered the picture. Jan Buysse, general director at municipality Sint-Genesius-Rode, was familiar with sympl from a previous job but was a bit doubtful if they internally had enough knowhow and skills to set out full recruitment marketing recruitment campaigns themselves.
When Jan decided to give the sympl software a chance, it turned out to be the right decision for the HR team. No advanced knowledge or skills were required to set up effective recruitment marketing campaigns with the sympl software. “The decision to choose for the sympl software was driven by the fair price-quality ratio and ease of use. With targeted ads, we were able to recruit locally, which aligned perfectly with the municipality’s strategy.”, says Robin Huylebroeck, expert in human resources and organisation at municipality Sint-Genesius-Rode. A few months in, they connected their own Facebook page with the software, enabling direct interaction with the local community. This led to valuable feedback, including a request from French-speaking residents for job ads in their language. And their Facebook page also got a significant boost in page views. As such, the sympl software gave them an extra platform to engage meaningfully with local talent. Thanks to sympl, setting up recruitment campaigns became actually effortless & intuitive, attracting high-quality candidates for their applications.
